Opportunities Abound’ for ESG and Corporate Financial Performance

It can be difficult to move forward with new ideas in a world that steadfastly separates good thinking by its specific professional confines. There are academics and there are investors,” and never the twain shall meet “- right? Wrong. Some of the best thinking on leadership towards responsible investment and sustainable commercial outcomes has been coming from collaboration between the two. Now a study, the largest of its kind to date, has examined environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues and corporate financial performance (CFP) across more than 2,000 academic studies published since 1970 and concluded that there is a positive correlation between the two. Further evidence, it seems, that ‘sustainability’ is far from boring in 2016.
